Perro Verde Mezcal

ABOUT:

Perro Verde Mezcal is a luxury brand dedicated to the "Rarer Than Rare, Bolder Than Bold." Celebrating the unconventional and eccentric, the brand is guided by over 120 years of hands-on expertise from five generations of Oaxacan maestros mezcaleros. Crafted to act as the ultimate go-to mezcal for special occasions and gifting, the spirits are formulated at 42% ABV to ensure a smoother, more balanced experience that behaves much like a fine wine—honoring the terroir and the distinct flavors of the land. Perro Verde adheres strictly to authentic, additive-free artisanal and ancestral methods, including roasting in conical pit ovens fueled by Huizache wood and volcanic rocks, natural fermentation in wooden casks, and distillation in both copper and clay stills. Presented in striking tinted glass bottles that subtly feature the silhouette of an agave harvester, the brand is a beautiful homage to the labor, culture, and noble spirit of Oaxaca.

MEZCALS OFFERED:

  • Espadín: The welcoming gateway into the Perro Verde universe, crafted from Agave Espadín matured for 5 to 7 years. It offers a crisp, aromatic nose with a punch of roasted agave, fresh lime, mint, and coriander seeds. The palate is a delicate, perfectly balanced combination of yellow apples, star fruit, and exotic fruits, rounded out by a gentle smokiness. It finishes mellow with a clean, smooth hint of spice, making it exceptionally approachable and drinkable.

  • Tobasiche: An incredibly rare, ancestral gem made from wild Agave Tobasiche that takes 17 years to mature in the wild. Extracted manually with a wooden mallet and distilled in both clay and copper stills, this expression is deeply complex. It delivers vibrant notes of lemongrass, green melon, celery, ginger, and star anise. The mouthfeel is delicate and fruity with an attractive, slightly charred, oily quality, concluding with a long, elegant smoky finish.

  • Ensamble (Espadín & Tobasiche): Considered a mezcal masterpiece and the founders' personal favorite, this blend beautifully marries the bright freshness of Espadín with the complex smoothness of Tobasiche. The nose is sweet and pronounced with aromas of cooked apples, olives, freshly cut herbs, and gentle smoke. The palate is rich, full-bodied, and highly textured, highlighting a fruity dominance of cucumber, pineapple, and citrus notes gracefully balanced by roasted agave, baking spices, and an earthy richness that lingers long on the finish.
