Lobos 1707 Mezcal
ABOUT:
Lobos 1707 is a premium agave spirits brand founded by Chief Creative Officer Diego Osorio and backed by a robust team of investors, most notably basketball legend LeBron James. Inspired by Osorio's ancestor who transported Mexican agave spirits to Spain in the 18th century, the brand’s defining signature across its entire portfolio is its unique barrel-finishing process. While Lobos 1707 is widely known for its Tequilas, their Mezcal is a passionate homage to Oaxacan heritage. Crafted by independent maestros in Oaxaca, the production strictly honors the Artesanal classification: the agave piñas are roasted in a traditional open conical earthen fire pit, crushed by a horse-drawn Egyptian stone tahona, naturally fermented, and double-distilled in copper pot stills. However, it is the final step that sets it entirely apart—the unaged mezcal is briefly rested in historic Pedro Ximénez (PX) Sherry wine casks from Spain, creating a profound, cross-cultural flavor profile.

MEZCALS OFFERED:
Mezcal Artesanal (Espadín): The brand’s singular mezcal expression, crafted from 100% Espadín agave. Bottled at a versatile 42% ABV, it represents a remarkable bridge between rugged Mexican terroir and old-world Spanish elegance. The traditional pit-roasting imparts a very gentle, approachable smokiness that is quickly balanced by the influence of the PX Sherry casks. It greets the nose with warm aromas of roasted apple, mild wood, and subtle campfire. On the palate, the sherry finish shines through beautifully, delivering an incredibly smooth, complex texture filled with rich dark fruits, baking spices, and sweet agave, culminating in a sophisticated, deeply satisfying finish designed to be enjoyed neat or over a single large ice cube.
