Xocomecatl

Xocomecatl is a vibrant, fruit-forward cocktail that layers a unique combination of melon and fresh grape notes over a clean agave base. Prepared by muddling fresh red grapes (or green grapes for a less sweet profile) right in a shaker with artisanal mezcal, then combining it with bright neon-green Midori melon liqueur, tart fresh lemon juice, and rich agave nectar. Shaken with ice and strained into an old-fashioned glass with fresh ice, it is topped with bubbly mineral water and garnished with a skewered grape banderilla.

Ingredients:

  • 45 ml Mezcal Mitre Origen

  • 45 ml Midori

  • 30 ml Lemon juice

  • 2 Tbsp Agave syrup

  • 10 seedless red grapes (substitute green grapes for less sweetness)

  • 60 ml Mineral water Ice

Instructions:

  • In a shaker, place 10 to 15 grapes, add Mitre Origen Mezcal, and muddle for 15 seconds, or until all the grape juice is extracted. Add lemon juice, Midori melon liqueur, and agave syrup, mix for 10 seconds, add ice halfway, and shake for 15 seconds. Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice and strain through it, then top with sparkling water and garnish with a skewer of grapes.

  • Use green grapes if you want a less sweet cocktail.
