New Orleans Minute
A characterful, spirit-forward evening sipper that uses a reposado tequila backbone beautifully balanced by the richness of sweet vermouth and maraschino liqueur. Stirred with orange bitters and a touch of syrup, it is served up in a chilled coupe that has been coated with a smoky mezcal rinse. This complex drink is finished with expressed citrus oils and three floated coffee beans, traditionally representing health, wealth, and happiness.
Ingredients:
50 ml Patrón Reposado tequila
5 ml Sugar syrup 'rich' (2 sugar to 1 water, 65.0°Brix)
2 dashes Orange Bitters by Angostura
Instructions:
Select and pre-chill a coupe glass.
Prepare a garnish of lemon and orange zest twists and coffee beans.
Rinse the glass with mezcal (swirl around to coat and discard excess) and set to one side.
Stir other ingredients with ice.
Strain into a mezcal-rinsed glass.
Express lemon and orange zest twists over the cocktail and use as garnish.
Garnish with 3 coffee beans floated on the surface to represent health, wealth, and happiness.
