Leyenda’s Rizzo Sangrita

Created at the famous Brooklyn bar Leyenda, this is a savory, spicy, and fruit-forward shooter or sidekick. While technically a "Sangrita" (traditionally served alongside a neat pour of mezcal), it brings together fresh orange, tomato, pomegranate, and a complex spice blend to perfectly complement the roasted agave.

Ingredients:

Rizzo Sangrita:

  • 24 oz. mango purée

  • 9 oz. yellow bell pepper juice

  • 1 tsp. salt

  • 1 tsp. ground pasilla Chile

  • 1/2 tsp. ground white pepper

  • 1 tsp. ground chile de arbol

  • 2 oz. fresh lime juice

  • 4 oz. water

Instructions:

  • Prepare a glass with a spicy salt rim (use a 2:1:1 ratio of salt to sugar to ground chile pequin) and set aside. In a mixing tin, shake all the ingredients together with ice until chilled and strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Garnish.

  • Combine all the ingredients in a jar or jug and shake to blend. Store in the refrigerator when not in use.
