Espadín Ritual
Espadín Ritual is a traditional, sensory way to experience the pure flavor profile of Mezcal Creyente Espadín. Rather than a mixed cocktail, it serves 1.5 oz of the clear, unaged mezcal completely neat in a classic veladora glass (a short, ribbed glass traditionally used for prayer candles). It is served alongside a side dish of worm salt (sal de gusano) and fresh orange slices. Alternating sips of the smoky, herbal spirit with a bite of the salty, citrusy orange opens up the complex notes of roasted agave.
Ingredients:
2 oz Creyente Espadín Mezcal
Ice cubes
Smokey dried grapefruit wheel (for garnish)
Instructions:
Prepare the glass: Fill a jícara cup (a traditional wide-mouth, short glass used for mezcal) with ice cubes.
Pour: Pour the Creyente Espadín Mezcal directly over the ice.
Smoke the garnish: Using a culinary torch, gently kindle the dried grapefruit wheel until it begins to smoke and releases a smoldering aroma.
Garnish: Place the smoked grapefruit wheel into the cup and serve immediately.
