Black Powder
Black Powder is a rich, aromatic cocktail that marries the smoky earthiness of Madre Mezcal with the crisp orchard notes of apple brandy. It is crafted by perfectly stirring equal 1 oz parts of mezcal and apple brandy with 1 teaspoon of Grade-A maple syrup and a half-teaspoon of warm, spiced allspice dram. A single dash each of orange bitters and Angostura bitters is added to bring complexity and balance to the rich sweetness. Stirred over ice until completely chilled, this autumnal, spirit-forward drink is elegantly strained over a large ice cube in a double old-fashioned glass.
