The founders' journey started around the year 2000 when they migrated from their home region in the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico, to Silicon Valley, California, with the dream of creating mezcal using traditional methods.

Mezcal Tosba is a family-owned mezcal brand created by first-generation mezcaleros who migrated to California and later returned to Oaxaca. They offer mezcal produced using older, traditional methods that are both delicious and sustainable, with a focus on Agave angustifolia (Espadín). Their process involves growing agave from seed, roasting the hearts in a wood-fired oven, and double-distilling the fermented mash to create an exceptional spirit. Their flagship bottle, Mezcal Tosba Espadín Joven, is described as having a smooth, citrusy, and fruity profile with a subtle smoke flavor.
Mezcal Tosba Espadín Joven: Made with ten year old Agave angustifolia plants, Tosba Espadin has a light nose with a smooth long lasting citrus and fruitiness on the tongue. There is a subtle flavor of smoke that is a result of the wood fired roasting of the agave hearts. The flavor of Espadin transports you to a tropical environment. It is perfect to enjoy neat, though it also makes a great cocktail.
Mezcal Tosba Joven Espadilla: The nose is green and vibrant with underripe banana peel, mango skin, pine needles, and an acidic touch of tepache. A palate of sweet plantain, herbed goat cheese, and papaya with a finish of winter spice and lingering smoke. This batch is made from Espadilla (A. angustifolia), a separate subspecies of agave endemic to the northern mountains of Oaxaca.
