Dixeebe
ABOUT:
Mezcal Dixeebe (pronounced "dee-sh-bay") is a deeply personal project from Asis Cortés and his father, legendary Maestro Mezcalero Valentín Cortés. Representing the fifth generation of a family that has been crafting spirits in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, for over 180 years, the brand is a true homage to their roots. In the Zapotec language, "Dixeebe" is a powerful word used to express profound gratitude to the gods, respect for Mother Earth, and deep appreciation for the people you share the spirit with. Dedicated to protecting the ancestral culture of mezcal, their expressions are strictly small-batch and crafted using historical methods—earthen pit ovens, stone tahona milling, natural fermentation, and copper distillation. Uniquely, Dixeebe offers its entire lineup exclusively in 375ml bottles. This intentional decision is designed to make super-premium, highly limited mezcals more accessible, allowing enthusiasts to explore rare agave varietals without the hefty price tag of a full-sized bottle.

MEZCALS OFFERED:
Espadín: The foundational expression of the brand, crafted from carefully cultivated Agave angustifolia. Roasted in an underground pit, milled by a tahona, and double-distilled in copper, this mezcal highlights the classic, beautifully balanced flavors of the Matatlán terroir, offering an elegant, traditional entry point into the brand’s artisanal mastery.
Madrecuishe: Produced from the tall, dense Agave karwinskii, this expression offers immense elegance and charm on the nose. The palate is exceptionally creamy and smooth, delivering bright notes of orange peel, fresh pea pods, and delicate floral elements, all grounded by a deep, earthy minerality and a long, delicate finish.
Arroqueño: A captivating mezcal crafted from the revered Agave americana var. oaxacensis, a massive wild plant that requires over 20 years to reach full maturity. Often bottled at a robust 53% ABV, it embodies the bold, rich essence of its wild heritage, offering a highly complex, layered tasting journey that perfectly showcases the plant's unique genetic depth.
Mexicano: Known in Zapotec as "Dob Daaiin" (mountain maguey), this wild agave grows slowly in rugged, high-altitude regions. The resulting mezcal deeply absorbs the essence of its extreme environment, yielding a bold, earthy, and powerful spirit with profound depth and character.
Pechuga: A ceremonial, super-premium expression crafted using Espadín Capón (where the agave's central stalk is cut before flowering to heavily concentrate its natural sugars). Following tradition, the spirit undergoes an additional distillation, yielding an incredibly rich, savory, and celebratory flavor profile reserved for special occasions.
Tepextate: A highly limited-release batch made from the wild, slow-growing Agave marmorata that thrives on steep, rocky cliffs. This premium expression captures the intense, herbal, and spicy essence that the Tepextate maguey is famous for, delivering a complex, intensely terroir-driven tasting experience.
