Cierto Tequila and Virginia Distillery Co. Tasting: Two Spirits, One Serious Lineup
This tasting brings together two completely different approaches to craft. We’re pouring refined tequila from Cierto alongside an ambitious lineup of American single malt whiskies from Virginia Distillery Co.
The Cierto expressions put fresh Highland agave and careful maturation front and centre. On the whisky side, Virginia Distillery Co. shows just how much flavour can come from changing the finishing cask, with Port, Cabernet, toasted oak, stout, Sherry, and double-cask expressions all on the table.

What We’re Tasting
Cierto Private Collection Blanco Tequila
Fresh and polished with bright floral notes, clean agave, citrus, and white pepper. Resting the tequila in stainless steel gives it an unusually smooth texture without covering up the natural agave character.
Cierto Private Collection Reposado Tequila
Aged for 11 months in French Limousin oak, bringing soft layers of cooked agave, cinnamon, caramel, and butterscotch without turning overly sweet or heavy.
Virginia Distillery Co. Port Cask Reserve
American single malt finished in Portuguese tawny Port and Virginia Port-style wine casks. Expect red berries, cocoa, walnuts, gingerbread, and a touch of soft smoke.
Virginia Distillery Co. Boulevard Brewing Co. Proper Pour
A limited American single malt collaboration shaped by Boulevard Brewing Co.’s Proper Pour. Rich fruit, vanilla, cocoa, baking spice, and stout-cask depth make this one of the most unusual pours in the lineup.
Virginia Distillery Co. Cabernet Cask Select
Finished in Cabernet Sauvignon casks from France and California, with dark berry fruit, cedar, candied ginger, soft smoke, and rich chocolate.
Virginia Distillery Co. Blue Ridge Toasted Barrel Finish
Made from 100 percent malted barley and finished in virgin toasted oak from the Blue Ridge Mountains. Baked apple, cinnamon, honeysuckle, and warm oak make this an easy entry into American single malt.
Courage and Conviction American Single Malt Whisky
Virginia Distillery Co.’s flagship expression brings together malt-driven richness, fruit, spice, and layered cask influence in a balanced introduction to the distillery’s style.
Courage and Conviction Double Cask Reserve
Aged for at least five years in first-fill bourbon and European red wine cuvée casks, then blended together for a richer, more integrated whisky with serious depth.
Courage and Conviction Sherry Cask
Matured in former Pedro Ximénez, Fino, and Oloroso Sherry casks from Jerez. Honeycomb, apricot, hazelnut, toffee, and baking spice give this one a silky, full-flavoured finish.
