Whenever I travel, my first question is always...where is the epicenter of mezcal in this town? When I asked that question recently in Pittsburgh, PA, all roads led me to Mezcal Mexican Cantina. ​

My man Fernando @mezcal_pgh put together a ridiculous single brand tasting for me and my guest. And then...he topped it off with a sample of their own custom-made batch of mezcal -- a partnership with La Luna.

This espadincillo from Michoacán was distilled with lime, orange, and mint. I don't normally like it when mezcaleros do infusions or pechugas but let me tell you...this mezcal was delicious!

If you're ever in the Pittsburgh area, find your way to this place. The selection is the largest I've seen in PA.

Who doesn't love a late summer spritz cupped in your hand as you chat the night away with friends?

This refreshing twist on the classic Aperol Spritz, combines the smoky notes of Ilegal Mezcal with vibrant Italian bitters balanced perfectly with the sweetness of Prosecco and grapefruit juice. If you're entertaining, you can't miss with this cocktail! Courtesy of Ilegal Mezcal.

HOW TO MAKE A "SAN PRISA SPRITZ"...

INGREDIENTS:

• 1oz Ilegal Mezcal Joven

• 2oz bitter Italian Bitters Apértif

• 3oz Prosecco

• 0.5oz grapefruit juice

• 1.5oz soda water

INSTRUCTIONS:

Add fresh ice to a large wine glass and pour in the mezcal and Italian Bitters Apéritif. Slowly pour Prosecco and top with soda water. Stir, and garnish with a grapefruit peel and a pinch of salt.⁠

*Martini & Rossi Fiero Apéritif is preferred, or substitute with Aperol or Campari.⁠
