Purgatorio
Purgatorio is a potent, deeply complex riff on the modern classic Purgatory cocktail that masterfully splits its boozy backbone between punchy straight rye and smooth bourbon whiskey. Stirred to a velvety chill with the rich, herbal intensity of Green Chartreuse, sweet Bénédictine, and a delicate, smoky whisper of Del Maguey Vida mezcal, this spirit-forward nightcap is strained into a coupe glass and elegantly finished with an expressed orange zest twist.
Ingredients:
15 ml Bourbon whiskey
2 drops of saline solution (20g sea salt to 80g water) or a mere pinch of salt
Instructions:
Select and pre-chill a coupe glass.
Prepare a garnish of orange zest twist.
Stir all ingredients with ice.
Strain into a chilled glass.
Express the orange zest over the cocktail and use it as a garnish.
