Contraluz
ABOUT:
Contraluz Mezcal made history in the spirits industry by introducing the world to the very first "cristalino" mezcal. Developed by the acclaimed Mexican spirits producer Casa Lumbre and championed by international superstar and investor Maluma (Juan Luis Londoño Arias), the brand was built on the philosophy of celebrating life's spontaneous and extraordinary moments. Contraluz redefines the traditional, robust nature of artisanal mezcal by subjecting it to an ultra-premium, specialized filtration process. Following traditional production and barrel maturation, the liquid is carefully filtered through activated charcoal. This precise technique removes the color and softens the heavier, fiery notes of the wood and smoke, yielding a brilliantly clear liquid that retains the complex character of the agave while achieving an uncommonly smooth, elegant, and modern profile.

MEZCALS OFFERED:
Mezcal Cristalino: The brand’s pioneering flagship expression, crafted from 100% artisanal Espadín agave. After distillation, the mezcal is rested for approximately six months in charred American oak barrels before undergoing its signature activated carbon filtration. Bottled typically at an approachable 36% to 40% ABV, it presents a crystal-clear appearance that beautifully masks its barrel age. It delivers a balanced, bright profile featuring primary notes of green agave, sweet citrus peel, and light florals. The texture is exceptionally smooth, revealing subtle barrel-driven touches of vanilla, cedar, honey, and dried fruits, all grounded by a refined, gentle wisp of traditional smoke and cacao on the finish.
11:11 Mezcal Reposado: A unique, highly limited-edition expression that pushes the boundaries of luxury agave maturation. The name "11:11" represents an invitation to enjoy the present moment and directly reflects its unique aging process: the mezcal is masterfully rested for precisely 11 months and 11 days. The maturation takes place in an innovative dual-cask combination of American oak bourbon barrels and rare Japanese Sakura (cherry wood) casks. This cross-cultural aging imparts a rich, inviting profile where the traditional cooked agave and soft smoke are intricately balanced by decadent, elegant floral notes from the Japanese cherry wood.
