Miguel worked with David Suro-Piñera, restaurateur, owner of Siembra Spirits and founder of the Tequila Interchange Project – a network committed to preserving and promoting traditional practices, responsible production, and human health in the agave industry.
In this 90-minute tasting, learn about ancestral and modern practices of Tequila and Mezcal production. You will leave with an understanding of the rich cultural history and how to spot sustainable, ethical practices of agave spirits producers and brands.

About Miguel Huerta
Miguel Huerta is a community organizer and social worker who worked and studied for 3 years alongside David Suro-Pinera Founder of Siembra Spirits, Tequilas Restaurant in Philadelphia, and the Tequila Interchange Project. Miguel was the coordinator and sole staff member of the non-profit Tequila Interchange Project and coordinated several trips to remote areas of Mexico with some of the top bartenders in the United States and Europe. Miguel has met and tasted mezcales and tequilas with some of the leading voices in the industry including importers and producers like David Suro-Pinera, Carlos Camarena, Fernando Garcia, Tomas Estes, and Ron Cooper of Del Maguey. Miguel traveled and facilitated trips with legendary bartenders from around the US including Phil Ward, Misty Kalkofen, Derek Brown, and Bobby Heugel. Miguel has visited producers at Siete Leguas, Cascahuin, Patron, and many remote tabernas and palenques. Since his work in the industry, Miguel has continued to learn about agave spirits and travel throughout Mexico.
