Charo's Kick

Charo's Kick is a sophisticated, agave-forward variation of a classic sour that cleverly adapts the structure of a scotch-based Cameron's Kick. Shaken to a frosty chill with a split base of crisp blanco tequila and earthy mezcal, it balances fresh lemon juice with the nutty sweetness of almond orgeat and a barely perceptible, freshening whisper of white crème de menthe.

Ingredients:

• 45 ml Patrón Silver blanco tequila

• 10 ml Del Maguey Vida Clásico Mezcal

• 10 ml Orgeat (almond) sugar syrup (2:1)

• 7.5 ml Sugar syrup 'rich' (2 sugar to 1 water, 65.0°Brix)

• 1.25 ml Giffard Menthe Pastille white crème de menthe

• 20 ml Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

Instructions:

• Select and pre-chill a coupe glass.

• Prepare a garnish of lemon zest twist.

• Shake all ingredients with ice.

• Fine strain into a chilled glass.

• Express lemon zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.
