Cráneo Organic Mezcal is a single-estate artisanal brand founded by agave aficionado David Ravandi, created to honor century-old Mexican traditions and the celebration of life. The distinctive sacred skull depicted on their label is inspired by the Aztec Goddess Mictecacihuatl, the guardian of the bones, which symbolizes strength and influence. Dedicated to preserving ancient Oaxacan distillation methods and organic farming practices, Cráneo partners with local maestro mezcaleros in the heartland of Santiago Matatlán. The production is rooted in sustainability and high quality: they hand-select 100% USDA and EU-certified organic Espadín agave grown at an elevation of 5,600 feet. Once fully matured, the piñas are roasted in a charred earthen pit oven, crushed by a massive stone tahona, naturally fermented, and double-distilled in small copper pot stills.

The palate is delightfully light and silky in body, revealing complex flavors of orange and grapefruit peel, green banana, and spun sugar, all of which elegantly punctuate a modestly sweet, lingering smokiness.
