Gracias a Dios Mezcal
ABOUT:
Gracias a Dios (which translates to "Thank God," and is playfully referred to as "Thank GAD!") was born out of a shared passion for agave. After opening a speakeasy mezcal bar in Querétaro, owners Pablo López, Enrique Jiménez, and Xaime Niembro traveled through Oaxaca where they met fourth-generation Maestro Mezcalero Oscar Hernández in Santiago Matatlán. Blown away by his craftsmanship, they made him an equal partner and launched the brand. Gracias a Dios is exceptionally committed to eco-friendly, fair-trade practices: their palenque is solar-powered, utilizes harvested rainwater, upcycles discarded agave fibers into adobe bricks, and plants five trees for every single one used as fuel. Staying true to their heritage, production follows strictly artisanal methods: organic agave piñas are roasted in earthen pit ovens over estate-grown oak and mesquite, crushed by a horse-drawn tahona, fermented naturally in pine wood vats, and double-distilled in copper alembic stills.

MEZCALS OFFERED:
Espadín Joven (Blanco): The brand's foundational, versatile flagship expression crafted from 100% Espadín. Bottled at 45% ABV, it features a beautifully balanced, earthy profile. The nose greets you with orchard fruits like green apple and pear, alongside warm cinnamon and peppercorn. The palate delivers crisp apple and zesty citrus, all perfectly supported by an elegant, measured wave of campfire smoke and ash.
Espadín Reposado: A beautifully refined sipping mezcal that takes their signature Espadín and rests it for four months in ex-bourbon casks. The wood introduces a rich trifecta of smoke—reminiscent of charcoal, pipe tobacco, and beach barbecue. The tasting journey is incredibly dynamic, balancing herbaceous notes of mint and rosemary with sweet bursts of caramel, mango, and tangerine, finishing with a silky, spiced elegance.
Piña (Pineapple): A bright, fruit-forward expression where sweet pineapples are incorporated into the spirit. It opens with vibrant, tropical aromas of fresh pineapple and lemon, leading into a sweet-and-sour palate backed by subtle hints of warm caramel and deeply cooked maguey.
Mango: Another exceptionally creative, tropical distillation that showcases the brand's playful side. It delivers intense, mouthwatering aromas of fresh mango layered with underlying herbal notes. On the palate, the natural sweetness of the fruit is enriched by comforting, creamy hints of vanilla and custard, making it outstanding neat or as a cocktail base.
Cuishe: Crafted from wild Agave karwinskii, this expression is intensely structural and herbal. It offers high aromatic intensity, packed with fresh mint, eucalyptus, and zesty grapefruit. The palate is beautifully harmonious, featuring deep mineral notes reminiscent of wet river rocks, leaving a long, refreshing finish of rosemary and citrus.
Tobalá: Distilled from the prized, wild rosette-shaped Tobalá agave. It presents a highly complex, deep, and subtly funky profile. Vegetal notes seamlessly integrate with an alluring peat-like smoke, while the palate brings forward a masterful balance of bright lime zest, raw spice, and rich fruit that lingers on the tongue.
Tepeztate: Produced from the massive, slow-growing wild Tepeztate agave. This expression is a masterclass in balancing herbal intensity with sweetness. It rewards the drinker with robust, aromatic botanicals, the perfect touch of peppery spice, and a deeply satisfying, full-bodied smoky finish.
